Why are other Diploma Massage Courses run over a Weekend or just 3 Days?

How does your course differ to ones which are half the price?

A weekend diploma full body massage courses, that some other schools offer are not long enough for a training school to allow you to then train in advanced courses like hot stone massage, deep tissue etc, the requirement is at least 5 days training. If you attend a shorter course this is only level 2 and not the level required to continue your massage training.

You will not be able to join FHT or many other professional bodies unless you have an ITEC 3 or above in full body massage and a weekend course will NOT provide you with this level.

Many salons and councils will not accept a 2 or 3 day course which is only a level 2 and you may find it hard to gain insurance too.

Many students come to us to retrain after finding out their qualification with other schools for around £300 was only a level 2 and not accepted by insurance companies to practice with the general public professionally.

They come to us to then train for the required hours needed which is only achievable over 5 days (hence being more expensive) but please be aware you get what you pay for! There is a reason why other schools’ courses can be so cheap and only over a couple of days.

They are passionate, caring and helpful and there every step of the way which allows us to have an extremely high pass rate for this course.

The venue in Manchester, Stretford M17 1AB

Another popular location with our students as it is central and easy to travel to for students in or around Manchester. It is very popular venue for our ITEC students, a really lovely building located on the hotel side of a beautiful warehouse. It is a peaceful holistic retreat, in a welcoming and authentic environment which is conducive to training and personal growth.

There is a restaurant and lounge within the building.

The venue in Somerset, Sherborne, Dorset near Yeovil DT9 3PS

A wonderful venue in Sherborne Somerset which our students love, it is only a short 2 minute walk from the train station, which is the direct London to Exeter line.

The students who used to come to our venue in Yeovil love this new location as it is close to Yeovil and yet closer to a train station so it is accessible from more locations and even if you are in London you can easily reach Sherborne by train too!

The venue in Leicester - Midlands LE1 5PZ

Popular venue within 15 minutes’ walk from Leicester train station, it is easily accessed via public transport and there is on street parking. The rooms are spacious and filled with lots of natural light.  The perfect environment in which to learn.

You will need to attend 2 days for the first month, then 2 days for the second month and one day on the final month, just 5 days spread over 3 months. We have plenty of dates to choose from, both weekend and weekday options.

Why do other schools run this course over 10 - 14 days and charge more?

ITEC ask that the practical training is over 5 days and we have 100% pass rate for this.

Other schools run this course over a longer period because they ask you to attend at the venue to also learn the Anatomy & Physiology. However to keep the number of days down that you attend and have to travel, the Anatomy & Physiology is learnt online, in the convenience of your own home.

This way you do not have to travel to the venue for the A & P part of the course so often, which keeps travel expenses down and also our overheads down and this is why we can offer this course at such a great discounted price!

ITEC Level 3 (The QCF level 3 framework, is the most up to date qualification offered by ITEC)

The Qualification is accepted worldwide - Passed by the Government so if you want to work within the NHS or palliative care, in a salon or as a mobile therapist etc. this qualification will allow you to do so, enabling you to take your career further.

Why do thousands of students book with us each year?

We have a long standing excellent reputation, established in 1998.

We look after our students from day one; giving you the personal touch we feel is important. We are here to answer any questions you may have and give you aftercare once you have finished training with us if required.

Pay just a small deposit to secure your place and you can then pay the balance for your massage training in instalments if you wish, to help you budget.

Why are other Diploma Massage Courses run over a Weekend or 2/3 Days? AND - What is the difference and why will I benefit doing this course?

Weekend diploma full body massage courses that some other schools offer are not long enough for a training school to allow you to then train in advanced courses like hot stone massage, deep tissue etc, the requirement is at least 5 days training. If you attend a shorter course this is only level 2 and not the level required to continue your massage training.

You will not be able to join FHT or many other professional bodies unless you have an ITEC 3 or above in full body massage and a weekend course will NOT provide you with this level.

Do you offer instalment payments?

Yes

You only have to pay a small deposit to secure your place and you can pay the balance for your massage training in instalments, to help you budget.

You can pay the balance straight away if you wish or up to 21 days before your course starts, giving you time to budget if needed.

This means you can book a course on our site in January for example, that is not starting until June and you would not need to pay the balance until May if you wanted to take advantage of the instalment payments.

Once you have paid your deposit, you can pay the balance in full or the final course fee can be paid in 3 affordable instalments if required and the tutor will send you information for this with their booking confirmation.

What if I already have a level 3 in A&P?

If you already have a level 3 in A & P, as per ITEC rules it needs to be a level 3 regulated qualification of 3 years or less and mapped at least 80% the same as the ITEC syllabus. In this case, you will not need to repeat this qualification and you will receive a £195 discount on the balance owed. ITEC rules are very clear that they will only accept a level 3 regulated qualification which you passed up to 3 years ago.

The tutor may have to check your qualification with ITEC to approve it with them before you can obtain this discount. If your previous A&P qualification is not ITEC, there is an ITEC charge of £100 if you decide to see if your previous qualification will enable you to be exempt from this section of the course.

WHEN MAKING YOUR BOOKING - Please pay the deposit as usual and let the tutor know within the notes section of the booking form that you already have a level 3 in A & P and once confirmed they can take off the £195 from the balance you will need to pay them.

  •     If your previous A&P qualification is not ITEC,RPL consideration will be at a cost of £100 but if RPL is refused, no refund is permitted and the £195 A&P fee must be paid in order to complete the course.
  •     The RPL process can take up to 12 weeks so if the student wishes to book onto a course and be considered for RPL, the first course date must be more than 12 weeks away.
  •     If the student has a previous level 3 qualification or higher, they can only be considered for RPL if the previous qualification meets at least 80% ITEC/VTCT Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology qualification (this course syllabus & criteria can be found on the ITEC website) For example, if a student has a previous ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy & Physiology, they can be considered for RPL but please note that only a pass mark will be awarded for this part of the course, which will effect the overall mark.
  •     Any previous Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology qualification must have been awarded no more than 3 years previous to be able to be considered for RPL.
  •     RPL is not guaranteed, it involves a process of cross-checking previous work against the current syllabus and this being verified by ITEC (the whole process can take up to 12 weeks)
Is there any way my previous studies can contribute to an ITEC Level 3 in Massage and I could speed up the process of becoming certified for insurance purposes?

You will need to complete the whole course to be issued with an ITEC certificate if this is the pathway you chose. You may be able to miss out the A&P section but you will only be issued a 50% pass for this section of the course which would reflect in your overall grade.

Please see information taken from the ITEC website which says:

If the previous qualification is an ITEC qualification, then the student will receive the ITEC pass mark for the unit that is applied for.

If a student has e.g. a VTCT Anatomy and Physiology qualification and wishes to use this for RPL on the ITEC A&P unit within the Massage Diploma.

The college must make the student aware that the student will not have to do the ITEC exam, however only a pass mark of 50% will be given on the A&P unit as the original assessment was not carried out by ITEC.

This will definitely reflect in the overall mark and students would not be able to obtain a distinction. The college must complete the RPL form attached and return with a copy of the student's previous qualification. This must be sent to ITEC with the enrolment form.

Can you tell me more about the dates for the Massage Course?

We have several options running during the year, please click on the 'view dates' button to view what is on offer for the start dates and once there you can then click on the green link named 'view the other dates' to view all 5 dates you will need to complete.

Please note this is the minimum allowance for this course as ITEC will not allow any less than 3 months for your training due to case studies and practice time allowances.

If you have any concerns with regard to the exams, due to the small numbers we take for this course the tutor can tailor make your learning to cover any weak areas you may have, guiding you through and making it an easy process.

How are We Able to Offer this Course at Such a Competitive Price?

By completing the anatomy and physiology online (or already having this qualification) and attending the rest of the course (the massage section) at the chosen venue, this keeps the costs down, making this a very popular alternative.

As you are learning the anatomy and physiology in the comfort of your own home, (it has a very high pass rate due to the quality of our content and tutors) you do not have to pay extra to attend at a venue which usually puts the course price up.

Due to the popularity of this course and its affordable price, it is on a first come first served basis with regard to deposits to secure you place.

Please note the cost of the ITEC Massage Exam fee is just £160.00, this includes the A & P exam and all admin fees

How Long is This Course?

This in an intensive fast track 5 days ITEC massage course which is spread over just a few months.

Can I use this Training to Then Attend your Advanced Courses like Hot Stone Massage or Deep Tissue?

Yes you can use this as your foundation and you will be able to then go on to train in sports massage or any of our advanced training courses like hot stone massage, MLD, deep tissue etc with us or another school, safe in the knowledge that this professional qualification is accepted worldwide.

What is the Difference between the ITEC Massage Course and the BTEC Massage Course Qualification?

Many people ask us what is the difference between these two courses, BTEC is level 4 and ITEC level 3 however there is actually very little difference in the course content. Often students have already trained in other ITEC courses and wish to continue with them as they have enjoyed their high standard of training, others appreciate the pricing as it is often more reasonable than BTEC course costs.

This ITEC course is equivalent to an NVQ level 3 and is a professional qualification and will be accepted in all salons, clinics, gyms, corporate companies. You can also set up at home or mobile and gain insurance to work with the general public and charge for your massage as a professional therapist. What if I Cannot Attend all the Dates Advertised?

You will need to complete all 5 days to complete the course and take the exam, which is held approximately a month after the course ends.

If you miss a date due to illness (a doctor's note will be required) you can catch up with the routine via our online video. It will then be required to have a Skype session with the tutor to ensure you stay up to date with the class.

You will be required to catch up on anything that you have missed in your own time so you can still continue the course and take the exam. One course date can only be missed with proof of a doctor’s note and if two course dates are missed, you will need to start and pay for the course again.

Recent feedback for this course

Our tutor did a sterling job with all the information that we needed, what to complete and when. You can see that she is very passionate about massage and this came through in her teaching. Always at hand to answer questions, queries, worries etc. We all loved her style of teaching and down to earth approach and collectively as a group thanked her with some flowers!

Holistic therapies is my passion and I would TOTALLY build on further with Gateway!!!!

I asked a few therapists who said that they trained / knew others that have trained with Gateways and said nothing but good things!

Thanks from Ashvinder - West Yorkshire

Wonderful! Encouraging, clear, supportive and an inspiration!

Course Feedback
The course was packed with information and led by a calming and encouraging tutor. The group size was good - 10 of us which meant we all had enough attention and it was a manageable size. Our first day was made fun and yet relaxing - the tutor put our minds at rest and got the best out of us all. Excited to go back!

Very friendly, helpful and approachable tutor with a great depth of knowledge and massage ability, as well as, an effective teaching style and kind manner.
I would definitely be interested in more workshops as they fit into my work schedule and I find the subjects interesting, yet mostly holding practical value and real world recognition.

What made you decide to book with Gateway
After a google search on the various options, gateway fit into my schedule the best, as it is fast-track and I don't work on Mondays which is the day the course is held. Also the qualification level offered is what I needed. I also like how it is a more intensive learning experience, in comparison to the same level course stretched out over a longer time frame because travel is challenging and costly for me, it is better to have minimal trips to the course.

Tutor feedback: Perfect tutor, I couldn't have hoped for someone better for my course. She is very approachable and easy to talk to, and applies quickly to any emails you send with queries on. She was informative about the course and exam, and what we needed to know and helpful when it came to coursework. I'm sad to say my course is now over, but have thoroughly enjoyed my time and would recommend any course you are looking at doing. Once again, thanks !

What made you decide to book with Gateway: Gateway was the only place I could find that did itec qualifications closest to me. It was a shorter course of 3months, which was perfect for me - rather than taking it over a year somewhere closer to home.
