No, you don’t need any experience or be a therapist already to do this course (it is open to complete beginners) an interest in health will help you succeed once qualified.
Q: I wondered how long each assignment is (word count) and if there is a final exam? Also how much detail we will go into when it comes to the modalities, do we learn how to give a treatment under each modality or just learn the background?
A: A: There are 12 modules and therefore 12 assignments to complete in the naturopathy course. These range from preparing a consultation form to questions on anatomy and physiology, how to treat conditions naturopathically to ideas on marketing a business.
Each module has a different requirement but in general about 250 words per assignment (2 sides) is adequate. There is no final exam, the course is very hands on in that each assignment is preparing you for Naturopathic work. You will learn the background to each of the different therapies.
Q: I am interested in switching over to your Naturopathy course as it covers a wider spectrum of studies that I am interested in. Can you tell me if you would recognise the course that I have started?
A: We would not need to recognise your existing course for you to start this Diploma. You would however need qualifications in specific techniques elsewhere if you were also wanting to 'treat' clients. This diploma provides a qualification to advise clients in natural/alternative methods/treatments but insurance companies will require more training for specific treatment techniques (massage for example)
Q: I'm inspired by holistic living but wonder if the more conventional Dip. in Nutrition
course would gain more clients.
A: We would advise that the Diploma in Nutrition be the best course to start with. This is extremely popular with people these days and a great add on to her existing qualification, they would really complement each other.
It is based on the premise that the body has an innate ability to heal and that symptoms can be treated with non-conventional, alternative therapies.
A Naturopath will therefore have knowledge and understanding of many different modalities, including:
Many people are now choosing alternative ways to treat their problems and naturopathy is one of these. It is becoming an increasingly popular therapy with a shortage of practitioners. You will be in demand from day one with the knowledge you will gain from studying to be a Naturopath.
The Diploma in Naturopathy will teach you to fully assess clients in order to seek appropriate treatment. Building health rather than fighting disease is what is important. You will learn about a range of complimentary therapies, whilst encouraging individuals to take responsibility for their own health.

This sense of connection has strengthened as this course has progressed and I am itching to start delving deeper!
Initially I didn’t want to limit my studying to just herbalism, which is why I chose the broader focus of naturopathy ( absolutely the right decision!) but it is clear now that it will be my next step.
I originally began this course to cover me as I found I was straying beyond the bounds of my current qualifications ‘officially’ as what clients were asking for evolved.
People were coming to see me for aromatherapy massage or reflexology, but wanted help with their diabetes, or eczema, or nutritional advice.
I have only ever seen clients in my spare time and until now was going to continue that way.
But as my understanding of natural medicine and the true nature of the human being has grown, it brought me more and more into conflict with my (part time) nursing at the local hospital.
After much soul searching, last December I gave up my registration after 20 years.
This was quite monumental as I knew I wanted to nurse from the age of five - it has always been a true vocation for me.
But the knowledge nursing has given me is proving invaluable in taking my understanding to deeper levels now.
I feel I can be of more help now as a naturopath, particularly with people suffering from chronic and auto-immune diseases.
It seems quite timely too as the NHS is imploding and the drugs aren’t working anymore. And people are getting sicker and sicker.
So for the first time I am looking at a future career in natural medicine, which is an exciting thought!
