Exchange or Donate project

6 February 2009

Gateway Workshops have come up with the idea of "Exchange or Donate" any therapy items you no longer need or use. How it works is that you simply exchange or donate via their newsletter. This is what Sue Bailey, owner of Gateway says:

"Due to the credit crunch it is a great opportunity to be thinking how we can all recycle more and stop spending! This project will help you do that. I am sure there are many of you with books, massage tables etc all not being used for one reason or another gathering dust. Just think of all the therapists out there who cannot afford a new massage table or the books for their Anatomy and Physiology course. You may have already completed this course and have books sitting on the shelf no longer being used so 'Exchange or Donate!'

"Think about any therapy item you have which you no longer need. You can donate this item or ask for something in exchange - Gateway will feature it their newsletter and who ever contacts you first can have this item. Alternatively you can exchange the item and post up details with your information what you would like in return to help you as a therapist. You may need a book, some massage oils, a tunic - just think of all the people you will be helping.

"The idea is to stop spending and start helping and recycle- it always feels great to donate and as it expands we can have many people exchanging and donating each month - all helping each other to over come the credit crunch and beyond." explains Sue.

What to do next? Just send us details by email of what you wish to "Exchange or Donate" and your contact details and she will feature these in the next issue of the newsletter.

Learn How to Massage

1 January 2009

Looking for a Career in Massage, many people in difficult financial times often look for an extra income and considering a career in massage therapy is a popular option many beginners to massage are taking. We have many beginners looking to learn how to massage and want to take the step as a professional rather than it just being a hobbie.

We have many massage courses and venues to choose from, there are massage courses that a complete beginner can choose from and we are here to help or answer any questions you may have to help you on the new path and career as a professional massage therapist.

If you wish to learn how to massage you can start with something easy and ease your way in like Indian head massage and progress from there.

It is easy for you to learn how to massage with us, a trusted company with top trainers. Here are some of the courses we have to offer:

LEARN HOW TO MASSAGE -  INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE DIPLOMA COURSE

This course provides the perfect introduction to the world of Complementary Therapy - as no expensive, specialist equipment is required – just a normal chair and a pair of hands!

On this one day course you will learn to perform a thirty-minute treatment, designed to relieve the physical and mental stresses sustained from our modern lifestyle.

The massage treatment and routine encompasses the upper back, neck, shoulders, head and face. It is initially taught without the use of oils to allow you, the therapist, to be more adaptable to client requirements - but they can also be used to enhance this wonderful treatment.

LEARN HOW TO MASSAGE - HOT & COLD STONE MASSAGE DIPLOMA COURSE

Adding this treatment to your existing portfolio is a ‘must’ for all massage therapists.

This highly publicised, popular style of massage makes use of the natural elements of volcanic stone, (which are rich in magnesium and iron) at differing temperatures, to soothe away deep, muscular tension.

This course will teach you the safe application of hot stone work through a precise, full body massage routine, giving you the skills and confidence to develop your own signature treatment.

LEARN HOW TO MASSAGE - SEATED ACUPRESSURE CHAIR MASSAGE DIPLOMA COURSE

The one day course will teach you the skills needed to provide an effective, twenty-minute massage treatment to relieve muscular tension. While seated on a specially designed ergonomic chair, this acupressure massage is practiced through the subject’s clothing on the back, neck, shoulder and arms - making this an ideal option at exhibitions, events, airports, shopping centres and in the office-type environment.

LEARN HOW TO MASSAGE - HOPI EAR-CANDLING DIPLOMA COURSE

This soothing, calming therapy is an holistic approach to ear cleansing. The warm, faintly resonating air derived from the lit, specially designed hollow candle, helps to soften and loosen compacted earwax, allowing it to naturally migrate from the ear canal. You will learn the safe application of this therapy on a one day course, which is further enhanced by performing a sinus massage treatment of the face.

This treatment takes approximately forty-five minutes to compete – but may vary slightly depending on the severity of the compacted earwax.

LEARN HOW TO MASSAGE - TRADITIONAL THAI FOOT MASSAGE DIPLOMA COURSE

This is an intensive, one day course that will teach you a tremendously effective leg and foot massage, as practiced in Thailand. The stimulating and invigorating effects of this treatment are created by the rocking motion and palm pressure, applied to the legs and feet in true Thai Massage style.

A Thai massage stick is used as part of the treatment, to apply deeper pressure over specific reflex points of the feet, and to aid the flow and release of blocked energy (known as Lom in Thailand) - creating a balance of this vital energy within the whole body.

Authentic Thai Massage sticks can be purchased on the day of your course.

LEARN HOW TO MASSAGE - NATURAL LIFT, FACIAL MASSAGE DIPLOMA COURSE

As the title suggests, this treatment naturally lifts and rejuvenates the appearance of the face. Created via a series of specifically tailored massage movements, a thirty–minute application is performed to release facial muscle tension, increase blood-flow to the superficial and deep tissue layers, brightening the complexion, encouraging cell renewal at the basal epidermal layer, improving the tone of the skin and relaxing expression and worry lines.

This course and treatment can be supplemented by attending the “Beauty Facial Diploma Course”, which will teach you how to cleanse, exfoliate, massage, mask and moisturise the skin.

LEARN HOW TO MASSAGE - BEAUTY FACIAL DIPLOMA COURSE

It is important for all individuals to have a good facial cleansing routine, and this course not only teaches you how to perform a complete, thirty-minute facial-cleansing, exfoliating, massage, masking and moisturising treatment - but also helps you identify the different skin types encountered. With this additional knowledge, you are better placed to select the correct products to compliment each skin type and skin condition.

This treatment can be further enhanced by attending the “Natural Lift, Facial Massage Diploma Course”, which will teach you how to perform a facial massage to lift and rejuvenate the face.

LEARN HOW TO MASSAGE - PREGNANCY MASSAGE DIPLOMA COURSE

This course is open to post-graduate students holding an Anatomy, Physiology and Massage diploma certificate. Many massage therapists are prevented from working with pregnant clients due to their lack of specialist expertise, confidence and the regulatory demands of their insurance provider.

Having a greater understanding of pregnancy, its associated symptoms and conditions, and the skills required to perform a safe and effective treatment are all taught on this one-day course. The knowledge gleaned from this course will provide the bedrock of your future work with pregnant women, and encourage you to go on and specialise in this fulfilling category.
