This two-day course provides hands-on training and instruction in Rossiter System techniques that help you (and your clients, family, friends, teammates, colleagues) get out of pain FAST.
As this is a specialist course this course is only available in Staffordshire in the Midlands where the tutor is located.
Rossiter stretches the body from the inside out – while other bodyworks work from the outside in. It’s a quick, effective and most importantly non-invasive way to get the results you want. The proprietary locking concept engages the other 90% of connective tissue that is not being focused on. This creates a tensile framework for the specific stretch to occur within. It makes the local work global and yields better results that last longer.
Developed through the concept of Rolfing – Rossiter utilizes weight (with the foot) for greater traction and active participation for maximum results.
What differentiates The Rossiter System from other modalities, however, is the speed with which results occur and the involvement of the client in the stretches. Unique to the Rossiter System are:
Active client participation and involvement. Based on the concept that two people working and moving together can increase the power, effectiveness, speed and amount of tissue that can be changed at any one time, The Rossiter System requires the client to move and stretch his/her own tissue with a Rossiter Coach’s help and guidance.
A system wide approach to pain relief and well-being. The Rossiter System encompasses a series of predictable, well-defined two-person techniques that are easy to teach and easy to learn. The Rossiter System loosens and lengthens the entire system of tissue that feeds into the pain, no matter where it arises or presents.
A focus on the cause of pain, not the symptoms of pain. Like many other complementary/alternative therapists – and unlike traditional medicine – the Rossiter System zeroes in on the causes of pain, stress, tightness and related symptoms that arise when connective tissue becomes short, tight, traumatized or constricted inside the body.
The body’s fascia, ligaments, tendons, collagen, elastin-collectively called connective tissue, is what Rossiter targets. Tight connective tissue is the source of stress, immobility, and pain in the body. Overuse, misuse, non-use, injury, and aging are all things that tighten connective tissue. The combination of the warmth and weight of the practitioner’s foot, with the slow and deliberate motion of the client, coupled with the body-wide “locking” technique, all work together to loosen tight tissues with unprecedented speed, safety, and body-wide results. Pain relief, increased range of motion, improved circulation and nerve conduction are all end results of Rossiter sessions.

Richard H. Rossiter Founder
Richard Rossiter has been a connective tissue specialist since 1983, and founded the Rossiter System® in 1990. The Rossiter System is the outgrowth of his personal journey into and out of pain.
As a teen, he suffered a severe right shoulder injury and dislocation while playing hockey in northern Minnesota. As a U.S. Army helicopter pilot, his left shoulder was injured and dislocated when he was shot down in Vietnam. For nine years after his military service, he worked as a commercial helicopter pilot in Alaska, where the physical stress and strain of flying intensified his shoulder pain. After a long search for non-drug, non-surgical approaches to pain he underwent several Rolfing sessions, and felt his pain began to lessen.
As a result of that success, Rossiter became a Certified Advanced Rolfer and opened private practices in Austin, TX and Little Rock, AR. Over time, he developed The Rossiter System as a way to prevent and relieve pain, immobility and central nervous system problems in clients before they were exposed to traditional U.S. medicine’s treatment regimen of pharmaceuticals, injections, splints, and surgery. Over time, he began involving his clients in their stretching sessions, and moved the work from massage tables to the floor, with clients fully clothed. The entire development process of Rossiter was under the watchful eye of neurosurgeon Dr. Jim Moore.
For more than 20 years, he worked as a small business and factory consultant who trained factory workers in-house to facilitate Rossiter workouts with each other – to prevent injuries, alleviate pain as it developed and keep medical costs low for the company/factory. He saw a consistent 60% plus reduction in workmans’ compensation costs for his corporate clients. Now Richard is working on Rossiter “self help” tools while offering his unique Rossiter System training to medical and fitness professionals, bodyworkers, and the general public.
The Rossiter System consists of hard, powerful, conscious TWO-PERSON stretching of the connective tissue system, which is done by a Rossiter-trained coach and YOU, the PIC, which stands for the Person in Charge. Each session is called a ‘Rossiter workout’ because two people (‘client & therapist’, or ‘PIC & Coach’) work together to achieve results.
For most of these techniques, the PIC remains fully clothed and lies on a mat on the floor. The Rossiter-trained coach places a foot on a very specific part of the PIC’s body to anchor tissue in place during movement, and that adds power to the stretch.
The weight and the warmth of the Coach’s foot, combined with powerful stretching by the PIC, warm and loosen the connective tissue, enabling the tissue to unravel its grip and allow freedom of movement again. When the connective tissue is freed and provides ‘space’ to the body (joints, muscles), tightness eases, pain ebbs and the body’s structures are no longer pinched, squeezed, bulged or trapped.
You are in charge of your body; you are in charge of your workout because you are the expert on how you feel inside your body. Anyone who uses these techniques undergoes a Rossiter workout – and that is exactly what it feels like: a powerful workout that produces quick, powerful results for anyone of any age.
The Rossiter System addresses pain at its cause, which is the body’s connective tissue system. Connective tissue is really quite simple to understand. It is the stretchy, strong ligaments, tendons and broad, fascial coverings that connect every part in the body to all the other parts.
It holds your body together, gives it shape and (when completely healthy and loose) gives it space. When the connective tissue system is overworked, stressed, or injured, it naturally shortens and thickens, causing pain, stiffness, limited range of motion, poor sleep, heaviness and other symptoms. When there is not enough space in the joints, there is pain and limited movement. Unless the causes of pain are addressed, pain will continue to come back and it will usually worsen over time.
This unique and extremely effective approach to pain relief does not involve medication or surgery. The techniques require the clients’ active involvement to stretch away pain by loosening and lengthening their connective tissue from head to toe. People find themselves stretching like they have never stretched before. The Rossiter System’s stretching techniques loosen entire areas of connective tissue, restore mobility and circulation. With these stretches, you can find your pain, take control and s-t-r-r-r-e-t-c-h it out of your body for good.
Most people immediately feel results. Several sessions may be needed to gain sustained long lasting results. Most Injuries can be treated with a Rossiter Workout. Maintenance treatments are recommended for prevention.
