I had previously worked for many years as a secretary. During the 1990’s I lived in Rotterdam in the Netherlands and worked for a Japanese trading company, assisting Traders with financial transactions in the International coffee futures market. Although I loved my job and found it very interesting dealing with international traders and merchants, I yearned to do something more fulfilling. Whilst in the Netherlands I began to teach English in the business community and international schools. It gave me a good grounding in teaching but still I yearned to do something which helped people on a physical level.
On my return to the UK I continued to work in administration, taking temporary contracts as a PA. I started to have regular massage and reflexology sessions which sparked my interest in the Holistic field. I had always had an interest in the body and anatomy and physiology since taking my degree in Performing Arts and practising yoga for many years. I took my first course with Gateway Workshops in 2007, Traditional Thai Foot Massage and in 2008 I began to study part-time for my ITEC anatomy and physiology qualification.
A year later I began my ITEC Level diploma in Holistic massage. I studied part-time while continuing to work as a secretary in the NHS and after gaining my qualification I started to work as a therapist in the evening and weekends. Firstly volunteering for a local charity and offering taster sessions at Mind, Body and Spirit fairs. Slowly but surely my practise and knowledge grew and eventually I made my final move from administration to working as a full time therapist in my own business.
Since starting my own business I have taken numerous Gateway Workshop courses and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. All the courses have helped my practice and client base grow and have inspired, encouraged and motivated me to become a knowledgeable therapist.
In 2013 I was asked by Gateway Workshops if I would be interested in becoming a massage trainer, I jumped at the opportunity to gain more knowledge and to pass on the knowledge I have to others.
I am really passionate about helping people in pain and discomfort, be it physical, mental or emotional pain.
