I started my career as a beauty therapist, gaining experience in London, Hull and Bridlington before being 'invited' into a career in teaching in a College of Further Education. I never thought I’d get into teaching as I was very shy but loved the interaction with the students and felt immense pride seeing them develop both professionally and personally!
With the arrival of 2 beautiful children and continuous pressure within F.E., I decided to open my own salon offering a range of beauty and holistic treatments and some part time training courses. After a few years we relocated to South Wales when my husband changed jobs. I found work in an office for a while but was drawn back into teaching again. No sooner had we settled there, my husband changed jobs again and we returned to Bridlington and I returned to teaching full-time, becoming Curriculum Leader for the department. After a further 6 years in this work, I then worked for Habia as a Development Manager working on the hair and beauty industry standards before being made redundant and being ‘invited’ back into teaching again.
With a career of more than 20 years in the beauty and holistic massage industry, I still love teaching and sharing my experience with students and believe that learning should be fun, whilst developing skills of a high standard. I am happy to be joining Gateway as a tutor as they offer high quality courses and a huge range of learning to suit individual development within this exciting profession.
Tina was lovely and made me feel very welcome. As above, she was extremely knowledgeable, very helpful and patient. The course was very relaxed because of her.
