This course is based on the Traditional Thai foot massage using Thai foot sticks to stimulate reflex points and includes a therapeutic massage to the legs and feet. The Thai foot massage is a popular choice for therapists, reflexologists and complete beginners.
This traditional technique dates back over 2000 years and is still practiced by Buddhist monks today.
Elements of the course include working on ‘Sen’ lines from the Ayurvedic tradition, these reflex points are stimulated using the stick, the course also includes foot wrapping techniques.
No case studies are required - no written exams, certificate given on the day on completion of a successful practical assessment with your tutor.
We have many venues and dates on offer in London and all around the UK including Ireland.
If you feel one day is not enough training, you are able to come back to repeat the course again free of charge. However due to small classes this is rare but available if required.
This course holds between 5 - 13 CPD points (all professional bodies are different please check with the one you are registered with for confirmation of points they award for one day courses)
The technique devised by Gateway Tutors is unique to Gateway as we include some methods from the Thai Body Massage.
Gentle stretches and massage to the legs have been added to the treatment, which your client will love, and add to the already tremendous benefits of this therapy.
A practical one-day certificated course, giving you an insight into the origins of Thai foot treatments which were first recorded in the famous ‘Wat Po Temple’ in Bangkok. It is believed that it has been taught here since the reign of King Ram the 3rd in the mid 19th century, so rest assured the treatment you will be learning is steeped in oriental medical tradition and history.
This therapy lasts for 30 – 40 mins and the tutor will advise you about the cost to charge your clients and insurance cover on the day of training.
Our philosophy is to keep classes small in order to give more attention to each student, thus cutting down on class hours. You will learn the same technique offered by other companies; however we pride ourselves on one to one tuition in smaller classes. If the tutor feels a second day is needed this will be offered free of charge.
With all Gateway courses you will receive a full comprehensive manual, which covers the course material and all aspects you have learnt on the day. Additionally we have produced our own DVD’s which cover our courses and these show the techniques step-by-step exactly as you have learnt them; it also covers the contraindications. These DVD’s are available exclusively to our students and cannot be bought without taking a class, as its most important that you’ve both given and received the massage to do it safely and competently.
All the A & P you require will be included in your course manuals.
Q Do I need to hold a massage therapy qualification, which includes anatomy and physiology
A No - There’s No Governing Body for Thai foot Massage, so you do not need A & P for your insurance cover as this is not legally required.
Q Will I get individual attention throughout the training
A Yes, student numbers are kept to no more than six per course to provide the best possible opportunity for tutor attention and learning. As experienced tutors, it is very important to us that students gain a clear understanding of the material taught and walk away excited and passionate about Thai foot massage.
Q Are there case studies to do, exams to pass, or can I leave the course and use hands free massage straight away
A There are no case studies or written exams, as we are confident that we can deliver the material required in a day, due to small group sizes and expert tuition. However, certification will be based on continuing practical assessment throughout the day, as we know you would only want to start using this treatment when you felt fully equipped and competent to do so.
