This course is based on the Traditional Thai foot massage using Thai foot sticks to stimulate reflex points and includes a therapeutic massage to the legs and feet. The Thai foot massage is a popular choice for therapists, reflexologists and complete beginners.
This traditional technique dates back over 2000 years and is still practiced by Buddhist monks today.
Elements of the course include working on ‘Sen’ lines from the Ayurvedic tradition, these reflex points are stimulated using the stick, the course also includes foot wrapping techniques.
No case studies are required - no written exams, certificate given on the day on completion of a successful practical assessment with your tutor.
We have many venues and dates on offer in London and all around the UK including Ireland.
If you feel one day is not enough training, you are able to come back to repeat the course again free of charge. However due to small classes this is rare but available if required.
This course holds between 5 - 13 CPD points (all professional bodies are different please check with the one you are registered with for confirmation of points they award for one day courses)
The technique devised by Gateway Tutors is unique to Gateway as we include some methods from the Thai Body Massage.
Gentle stretches and massage to the legs have been added to the treatment, which your client will love, and add to the already tremendous benefits of this therapy.
A practical one-day certificated course, giving you an insight into the origins of Thai foot treatments which were first recorded in the famous ‘Wat Po Temple’ in Bangkok. It is believed that it has been taught here since the reign of King Ram the 3rd in the mid 19th century, so rest assured the treatment you will be learning is steeped in oriental medical tradition and history.
This therapy lasts for 30 – 40 mins and the tutor will advise you about the cost to charge your clients and insurance cover on the day of training.
Our philosophy is to keep classes small in order to give more attention to each student, thus cutting down on class hours. You will learn the same technique offered by other companies; however we pride ourselves on one to one tuition in smaller classes. If the tutor feels a second day is needed this will be offered free of charge.
With all Gateway courses you will receive a full comprehensive manual, which covers the course material and all aspects you have learnt on the day. Additionally we have produced our own DVD’s which cover our courses and these show the techniques step-by-step exactly as you have learnt them; it also covers the contraindications. These DVD’s are available exclusively to our students and cannot be bought without taking a class, as its most important that you’ve both given and received the massage to do it safely and competently.
All the A & P you require will be included in your course manuals.
Q Do I need to hold a massage therapy qualification, which includes anatomy and physiology
A No - There’s No Governing Body for Thai foot Massage, so you do not need A & P for your insurance cover as this is not legally required.
Q Will I get individual attention throughout the training
A Yes, student numbers are kept to no more than six per course to provide the best possible opportunity for tutor attention and learning. As experienced tutors, it is very important to us that students gain a clear understanding of the material taught and walk away excited and passionate about Thai foot massage.
Q Are there case studies to do, exams to pass, or can I leave the course and use hands free massage straight away
A There are no case studies or written exams, as we are confident that we can deliver the material required in a day, due to small group sizes and expert tuition. However, certification will be based on continuing practical assessment throughout the day, as we know you would only want to start using this treatment when you felt fully equipped and competent to do so.

Feedback from Lorraine Scatterty
It was excellent. This was my second course with this tutor. So impressed by her knowledge, her friendliness and ease of teaching.
The DVDs are invaluable along with the manuals. If you are unable to undertake the newly acquired skill for a long period of time, it is very easy to forget some parts of the treatment. I refer to both the DVDs and manuals to ensure I am doing my treatments correctly. Also the manuals contain extra very useful and informative information about conducting business. I was recommended to Gateway and having done three courses with Gateway am very happy to have recommended them and one of my friends recently undertook a course with Gateway to her satisfaction also.
Feedback from Sandy cameron
Really friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgeable, very patient and had lots of tips to share re techniques & also discussed how different clients are, what sort of things you can expect. Really lovely teacher. I'm really excited with the new skills I have learned, and have practised at home, & am finding the notes I was given extremely helpful, to jog my memory! This is the first massage/treatment course I have ever done, but I feel confident because I received such close attention & teaching. I am really pleased I chose this course & that I had such a fantastic teacher!
The info was very full and detailed on the website, the dates & locations were varied so I was able to fit it into my regular working week. I liked the fact that Gateway was very clear and transparent with important info such as insurance and course content. I also liked that it was easy to contact them with any queries or concerns before (& after if need to)
Feedback from Paula Lawrence
I would like to say that this is the second gateway course that I have attended and found both to be excellent. The tutors have been extremely helpful and supportive, the venues have been good, in small towns that are easy to find. The rooms used were the right size, they were warm and beverages available all day. The teaching was excellent and the manuals are so helpful. I would recommend Gateway workshops to everyone who wanted to learn a new skill or add to the ones they already have. Thank you.
I was looking for some unusual natural holistic courses to add to what I do and you had them and of course also the reasonable cost of them. Also after doing the first one I liked the style of teaching and was informed that all the courses were taught with this framework.
The tutor was lovely, I think Gateway has a knack for finding special people to teach their courses.
